Introducing the 2014 NYCE Delegation

The youth delegation was selected through our nomination and interview process. We would like proudly introduce the 2014 Native Youth Cultural Exchange delegation representing Arizona, California, and Hawaii. These young men have been nominated by prominent members of their community for their beginning or active leadership and involvement in their communities. These young men are about to embark on a journey that has positive impacts for themselves as well as their communities. They will have the opportunity to share and learn from one another as well as the communities they will be working with for the 2014 NYCE Journey.

Louis Wilson (Pitt River)

I'm Louis Wilson from the ISS AWI aka Pitt River nation, I’ve been involved with my culture since I can remember doing California feather dances, sweatlodge and protesting for our sacred sites. I hope to gain knowledge of other nations values like their traditional ceremonies, sacred sites, storytelling with morals, songs, and language because we gotta keep strong for what our ancestors fought for, that’s what id like to share with my Hopi and Hawaii brothers as well.

Nick Garcia (Wintu, Pitt River, Apache)

I am Nick Garcia, I live in Redding California I'm Wintu, pit river, & Apache. I would like to get information that others don’t have a opportunity at and get to share it with the people where I’m at and to show other cultures what our culture is like. And to get to use the opportunities at hand to help me decide what I may want to do for the rest of my life.
